A Slice of Summer at Sands

mainIt’s only May but we have SUMMERTIME in our soul! We are geared up and ready to help you and your family make those beach vacation memories. Here’s how a Sands’ summer scene may look. Play along with us…

How is this for a morning wake up call? Open your eyes each day of your vacation with the Atlantic right outside your window. Take your time getting ready for the day’s adventures while sipping your coffee on the balcony taking in each wave crashing onto the shore. Oh, but don’t forget the delicious hot buffet breakfast waiting for you at the Brass Anchor restaurant.

Now that everyone has a full tummy, no better time to get the little ones over to the Sands Kids Club where they can sign up for ALL DAY fun and activities without mom and dad making all the rules. Supervised hours of fun, crafts, onsite water park adventures, scavenger hunts, duck races, face painting and meeting new friends.

Time for the BIG kids to hit the water and have fun too! Beach or pool? Spend a little time at both, make time to enjoy a cold drink and a light lunch at our new OD’s Pool Bar. LIVE entertainment all summer long! Lay back, relax and soak it all in. Don’t forget the sunscreen!

Looks like it’s time to round up the kids, head to the room and get ready for dinner at our onsite oceanfront restaurant, Mango’s on the Beach. You have certainly worked up an appetite by now. And with Mango’s new menu, there is definitely something delicious on hand, even for the finicky eaters. Need souvenirs? No need to run around town, stop in our new Sand Dunes Gift shop located right outside the restaurant.

Enjoy live music nightly, all summer long at Mango’s Lounge. Come listen to your favorites performed by singer/songwriter Walter Finley. Finish off the evening with a quiet stroll on the beach, watching the moon rise while breathing in the salty air.

Shark Teeth Hunting Tips

shark_teethLow tide is the best time to find these sharp fossils. The water is calmer and clearer at low tide, giving you better visibility. Early morning hours, we feel are the best times to search. There are fewer people around to compete with.

Shark Teeth can be found near the water, usually right where the tide is rolling out and especially where you see the accumulation of broken shells, near the last high tide mark. It is a very tedious but relaxing hobby. Some of us are at it for hours on end.

Look for small, black triangular shapes in the sand. The more you find, the more your eyes will key in on them. You will be an expert hunter in no time. Always remember to carry a small pouch or bucket to collect your treasures and lather on the sunscreen.

Sands Experience: Sands Waterpark

Family on Lazy River at Sands Waterpark

There’s no need to spend a lot of money visiting one of Myrtle Beach’s many waterparks when guests at Sands Resorts have one in their own front yard.

Located on the Sand Dunes property in Myrtle Beach, guests at it or any of the Sand Resorts family of hotels receive unlimited usage of the facilities for free. Cruise down the lazy river or splash down on one of the many the waterslides without standing in the long lines and paying the high admission prices.

Sand Resorts Waterpark offers something fun for the whole family. The little ones can play all day on the aquatic treehouse, kiddie-pool playground and other attractions designed with safety in mind.

Meanwhile, the grownups can stretch out by the poolside and catch some rays while watching their children have a good time. Or get into the fun by grabbing a float and sailing around the lazy river or by taking a soak in the bubble pool.

So throw on that swimsuit, slather on some sunscreen and have a splashing good time at the Sands Resorts Waterpark. It’s all part of the Sands Experience.
