Sands Experience: Hall of Heroes

With the approach of President’s Day, Sands Resorts welcomes its guests to remember the men and women who helped ensure our nation’s survival to celebrate such a holiday.

Located at the Sands Ocean Club, this patriotic display pays tribute to the veterans of conflicts from the American Revolution to modern wars, and celebrates our freedom.

The highlight of the Hall of Heroes is a replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall in Washington, DC, featuring the 58,253 names of service members who lost their lives.

Also on display are copies of our country’s founding documents, a Korean War tribute, a flag Display, and an informative exhibit featuring all the wars and the soldiers who fought them.

Other displays include a 9/11 tribute that displays the names of the 2,984 Americans who died in the terror attacks.

There’s also a Gold Dog Tag display honoring all the service members killed in action from the Vietnam War to more recent conflicts. Visitors can have special dog tags made to remember lost loved ones.

Sands Experience: Wild Water & Wheels

Get your thrills in the water and on the asphalt at this waterpark/go-kart track in Garden City Beach. Featuring dozens of aquatic attractions and racetracks, Wild Water & Wheels is your one-stop spot for family fun.

Take a ride on the wild side at one of the 24 waterslides, including the Speed Slides and Mat Slides, or take a more relaxing dip in the wave pool or lazy river. And for the little ones, there’s a kiddie aquatic playground where they can splash and play while also being safe and sound.

Go-kart racing isn’t the only other entertainment option for guests. A miniature golf course, bumper boats and a state-of-the-art arcade complete with high-tech interactive games and old-school carnival games create an ideal place for family fun. Guests can also grab lunch at the snack bar and relax in the poolside lounge chairs.

Diamondback Golf Course

Golfers travel thousands of miles and spend top dollar to play a round of golf in Myrtle Beach. All guests at a Sands Resorts property have to do is check in.

As part of the Sands Experience, a long list of free activities reserved for guests only, you can play for FREE at Diamondback Golf Course at Woodland Valley Country Club, one of the Grand Strand’s top-rated layouts and most challenging designs.

This 6,928-yard layout is the craftsmanship of Russell Breeden and receives rave reviews from local and vacationing golfers for both playability and service. The par-72 design calls for a combination of strength and finesse, offering several risk/reward opportunities that require a deft touch with every club in the bag.

As the first course on the Grand Strand to install Jensen Ultra Dwarf greens, Diamondback is well maintained and features a number of innovative ways to give golfers a great experience, including golf carts with GPS readings and an enjoyable 19th hole.

Sands Kids Club

Family vacations often turn into a getaway for the kids and even more work for the parents. In an effort to keep the little ones happy and entertained, the adults often go home feeling like they need a vacation from their vacation.

That’s why Sand Resorts has created the Sands Kids Club, a group designed to give your children plenty of fun activities to do on-site while the grownups get a little down time. Let the counselors at Sands Resorts show the little ones a good time with games, arts and crafts, dancing and other fun events while mom and dad get some time alone.

Each week features a new lineup of activities, and the list is posted so that families can check out the upcoming events and decide which ones might be best for the kids. Pool and beach games are alternated with arts and crafts and other outings to keep kids of all interests active and involved. They also make friends with other kids their age who are also guests, giving them playmates to hang out with at the resort.

Most Sands Kids Club activities are free, although some craft projects require a small fee for supplies. Ice cream socials, pizza parties and movie nights are often held in the evenings, so parents can even find time to do something special together while the kids mingle with people their own ages. The Sands Kids Club is open to children ages 5-12.

Parents are asked to register their kids for the chosen activities at the start of each day to give counselors a good head count and to sign any required permission slips. Then it’s time to relax and enjoy your stay while the little ones play.

Broadway Grand Prix Offers Fast, Fun Times!

Guests at the Sands Resorts family have plenty of entertainment options to choose from, but the Broadway Grand Prix at Broadway at the Beach may be the fastest and most fun.

Replacing the old NASCAR SpeedPark, the Broadway Grand Prix opened in 2014 to rave reviews from racing fans and fun-lovers. In addition to go-kart racing, the complex also features miniature golf, amusement rides, a high-tech arcade and much more.

Guests receive Buy One, Get One tickets to this popular attraction, which includes seven unique tracks for racing. Among the courses are the slower Family Track for parents and small kids and the more daring Fast Track and Speed Racer layouts for the more daring teens and tweens.

In addition to the racing action, Broadway Grand Prix features the popular Sky Coaster ride that gives passengers the thrill of flight and freefall. There are kiddie rides for the little ones, as well as two 18-hole mini-golf courses for those who prefer to putt than drive. A giant arcade features the latest interactive video games.

Broadway Grand Prix offers guests the option of buying individual ride tickets or purchasing an all-day pass with unlimited rides. Packages are also available for a limited number of ride tickets and a meal from the on-site snack bar. Broadway Grand Prix is also available for birthday parties and group functions.

Sands Experience Even Bigger & Better in 2015

Guests at Sands Resorts properties will receive even more bang for their buck in 2015 with the newly expanded “Sands Experience” program.

In addition to the great accommodations and on-site amenities at the Sands Resorts family of properties, visitors will enjoy even more FREE attractions and activities this year through the Sands Experience. Here’s the lineup to look forward to in 2015:

Get behind the wheel of a realistic go-kart at Broadway Grand Prix and race your friends and family members for bragging rights on one of the seven racetracks. Broadway Grand Prix also offers thrill rides, miniature golf and a high-tech arcade to make it fun for the whole family.

If golf is your game, you are in luck. Visitors can enjoy a free round at Diamondback Golf Course. Located at the Woodland Valley Country Club just just outside North Myrtle Beach, this 6,928-yard, par-72 layout offers a true challenge for joy the challenge and tranquility.

Other off-site freebies include a full day and night of thrill rides and water slides at Wild Water & Wheels in Surfside Beach. Ride the rides or slip on the slides at this family-friendly attraction in the Sands Experience.

Sands Resorts guests are also privy to several on-site amenities as well, including the popular Sands Waterpark and its many aquatic attractions. Children will enjoy the fun Sand Kids Club, which offers a wide range of activities for the little ones, while the adults can kick back and relax at Ocean Annie’s Beach Bar. Fabulous Fall Events in Myrtle Beach

We have officially made it to autumn here at Sands! Don’t think for one second the fun is over at the beach – there is so much to do and enjoy along our coast.
